In a fast-moving military clash on Wednesday (May 7), Pakistan claims it shot down five Indian fighter jets using its newly acquired J-10C jets from China. This would mark the first known combat action for the Chinese-made aircraft.
Both Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and the country’s military made the announcement. They said the action was taken in response to cross-border attacks by Indian forces. These incidents happened in the long-disputed region of Kashmir and nearby contested areas along the India-Pakistan border.
First Combat for the J-10C?

According to the South China Morning Post, if confirmed, this would be the first time the J-10C has been used in real combat. The fighter jets were deployed as a direct response to missile attacks from India, which reportedly killed at least eight people in Pakistan.
This sudden escalation has once again turned the spotlight on tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Speaks Out
Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s Defense Minister, confirmed the incident during a live interview on Geo TV early Wednesday morning. He stated clearly, “The Pakistan Air Force has shot down at least five Indian fighter jets in response to recent cross-border aggression by India.”
The statement added more weight to the ongoing standoff and left many wondering whether the conflict might grow further.
Rising Tensions Again
This clash is the latest chapter in the long, tense relationship between India and Pakistan, especially over the Kashmir region. Past events have shown how quickly these confrontations can heat up, and this one might be no different.
So far, India has not made an official statement in response to Pakistan’s claims. The international community is watching closely, hoping both sides will choose diplomacy over further military action.
